July Reading Wrap Up

Hello divas!

It’s been a minute 😅😅😅, but my July was INCREDIBLE. I got to perform a role that was a reflection of myself & made so many new friends. My reading was slow but audiobooks absolutely saved the day! 11 books, 4,802 pages, just shy of 100 books this year.

I continue my month behind trend on celebrations: 6/11 of my reads featured gay couples as the main protagonists! While only one of my books was by a nonwhite author, two of my books featured stories & biographies of nonwhite folks. Still not great & lots of work to do.

Best Book: Refugee by Alan Gratz. Hearing what these children had to go through to find their freedom made me recognize my privilege to be able to do something as simple as fill my water bottle in the morning. I’ve always been politically active & this book supercharged me into continuing that fight.

Worst Book: Bromantasy by Máire Roche: I was simply expecting something different. There were also too many plot lines for my tired brain to follow. I’m definitely open to rereading it again!
