March Wrap Up

Here it is, my March Wrap Up! I crushed my reading goals this month & I’ve been getting much more comfortable with audiobooks. This was an unusually high rating month with an average rating of 4.25/5. I can be a harsh reviewer so seeing that high of a number was thrilling. My first observation from the graphic I took is that I still have a lot of work to do in diversifying my shelf (both authors and genres). Only 5/16 books (not counting the manga) by nonwhite authors, and 1 nonfiction book is a bit yikes! Now to the highlights:

Best: Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, read by Jefferson White

I didn’t think I would be as shocked as I was reading this. Haymitch went through too much & never got a break from page 1. Jefferson White is a stellar narrator who captured Haymitch’s character arc perfectly, securing the book’s spot as my “best” for the month.

Worst: Glorious Rivals by Jennifer Lynne Barnes

This read still got 4 stars but was my least favorite because the pacing made no sense to me. The buildup took too long for me to be invested in how it ended. Will I still be first in line for The Gilded Blade when it comes out? You know it.

Quote(s) of the Month: “What is it with men, Karl? A woman makes a perfectly good suggestion but, because she's a woman, the men in the room think she's crazy or annoying or not very smart or all of the above. They tell her to sit down and be quiet. Why do they do that?” From Fatality in F by Alexia Gordon

“You're not boring me at all... People who turn what they love into a living? That's the dream.” From The Astral Library by Kate Quinn

Have you read any of these? Any books I should put on my list? Any ideas for a blog post? Let me know via my Contact page! I hope I inspired you to pick up a book and read.
