May Reading Wrap Up
i can’t believe that it’s already May 31st. Everyone says it but it really feels like 2026 is flying by! I didn’t read as much as I wanted to this month due to some (exciting) personal & professional transitions, including getting cast in a brand new play & rebuilding my relationship with Jesus through weekly mass attendance! Anyways, down to the nitty gritty…
12 books & 4,384 pages isn’t bad at all. I’m still ahead of schedule to meet my 150 book goal so hooray! Looking at the diversity of this month’s picks is where I’m disappointed. All fiction, all 12 books written by women #feminism though not one of them passes the Bechdel test :-(. Only two of my books were written by authors of color, & 5 out of 12 have LGBTQIA+ representation, though none of the couples are the protagonists. I’ve already got some books checked out from the library that I’m excited for in the month of June. One of my highlighted Fable quotes this month from Eleven Houses (also where this month’s quote is from!) says “Crazy how a variety of voices is best for battling against evil.” That quote is my anchor for picking June’s reads, especially with it being PRIDE MONTH!
I am also making a promise to myself to be more consistent in blogging, since I do love to write & talk books. Any ideas for a blog post? Reach out via my contact page! See ya soon!
Best Book: Privilege by Mary Adkins. I went through something similar in college so reading this made me feel seen. The different perspectives really show how many people can get hurt from one person’s horrible decision.
Worst Book: The Thorn Queen by Sasha Peyton Smith. It was fine but compared to its predecessor it was so lackluster!
May Quote: "Hey, I'm proud of you, you know."
"For simply existing?" He smiles at me. "For allowing yourself to be happy.
It's a mountain to climb. It was for me." From Eleven Houses by Colleen Oakes
