September Wrap Up

Hello team, long time no see!

When I originally planned to post my wrap up, news of the Cornell rapists broke & as an assault survivor I felt it wasn’t right to share the wrap up in the same group of posts as survivors sharing their stories alongside facts of the case. While I’m thrilled that this case is being taken higher than Tompkins County & Cornell has suspended frat parties, there is still so much work to be done about the sexual assault & rape culture on college campuses. Fellow survivors & feminists, continue making your voices heard because this behavior is not normal & we as a country can’t be “pro woman” until this is addressed appropriately.

Now that I’m off my soapbox … here is the wrap up. Only 14 books this month, which is below my average but still decent. I made my page goal of 55,000 for the year which feels incredible, & as of this post I only have 11 books to go to reach my 150 book goal for the year!

Looking at the diversity, only two books were written by authors of color, & two books featured LGBTQIA+ characters as the main storyline. I read two nonfiction books, one memoir & a science (I know right?). I’m enjoying reading nonfiction more than I thought I would which is amazing because all fantasy books are starting to feel the same.

Best Read: By Invitation Only by Alexandra Brown Chang. It had me guessing from beginning to end. I read it in one sitting & it reminded me to check my privilege & stand up for all women.

Worst Read: How to Survive Camping: The Man With No Shadow by Bonnie Quinn. There were too many plot lines with the same character that it got to be confusing. The writing was strong but the plot was weak!
